Formerly a primary school teacher in the UK for over 30 years, Heather is now married to a Gambian and together they ran the successful Farakunku lodges in Tujereng for 16 years. An attached art studio and gallery gave her the opportunity to hold art and craft workshops for guests where her interest and enjoyment in the arts could be shared.

Since selling the business in 2024, she and her husband have moved to their new home in Sanyang with a small in-house studio where she can continue to try new ideas and she paints regularly using mixed media, acrylic and oils as well as making mosaics, printing and acrylic pouring.

Heather set up the Farakunku Foundation in 2012 to sponsor local children by paying for their school fees, books and uniforms from nursery to Grade 12.

She has exhibited and sold in the UK with her local art group and in her home town cafes.
Heather enjoys sharing ideas with others and is a new member of Art27 Group since January 2026.
