A Journey Through Colour, Form, and Heritage
Carolyne Jacobs is a multidisciplinary artist and educator whose work is a vibrant reflection of her global perspective and deep connection to the natural world. A seasoned world traveller, Carolyne’s creative practice is a constant dialogue between her studies at the National College of Art & Design (NCAD) in Dublin and the profound aesthetic influences she has gathered from her time across the world and particularly the African continent.
Artistic Practice and Style
Carolyne’s work is a celebration of light and movement, characterized by a bold use of vibrant colour and rhythmic design. Her style seamlessly merges the Fauvism of Henri Matisse with the symbolic power and organic patterns found in African textile traditions.A versatile practitioner, Carolyne fluidly moves between several mediums to achieve rich, tactile surfaces that evoke both the rugged Irish landscape and the warmth of the African sun. Her portfolio includes:
* Mixed Media: Integrating acrylics, gel printing, and collage to create layered narratives that honor global craft traditions.
* Wearable Art: Designing handcrafted jewelry, scarves, and bespoke bags that often feature African wildlife and rich, colourful palettes inspired by Africa.
* Nature & Symbolism: A focus on flora and fauna, exploring the interconnectedness of life across different continents.
Exhibition and Community
Beyond the studio, Carolyne is an active figure in the international arts scene, frequently exhibiting her work to share her unique fusion of Northern European and African inspiration. Her art serves as a cultural bridge, inviting viewers to explore the shared beauty of our diverse world.
Dedicated to fostering creativity in others, she also leads art workshops, teaching students how to navigate the complexities of colour and medium while encouraging them to find their own "visual voice" through the exploration of global heritage.
